Supporting survivors of family violence

The Period Place

8 Oct 2024

At The Period Place, we believe no one should face the burden of period poverty, especially during times of crisis. Thanks to our partnership with Kimberly-Clark (U by Kotex), we proudly supplied 300 Home Access Packs to Woven Earth, an organisation that provides practical support to survivors of family violence and their children across Auckland.

Each Home Access Pack provided by The Period Place contains enough U by Kotex disposable period products to last three months. These packs are distributed to every female over the age of 10 in homes Woven Earth supports, offering significant cost savings and much-needed care during a vulnerable time.

Woven Earth helps families rebuild their lives by turning empty houses into homes, providing not only essential furniture but also dignity and security. On average, Woven Earth furnishes four homes a week across Auckland, from Warkworth to Pukekohe. The inclusion of period products in their care packages ensures that women and girls have one less thing to worry about as they navigate their journey towards safety and stability.

This initiative has made a tangible difference - helping an estimated 15 women and girls per month access the period products they need, at a time when they need them most.
