The Period Place

Periods don’t stop during a pandemic and neither do we
On August 17th 2021, Prime Minister Jacinda Arden announced at midnight Aotearoa will be going into lockdown.
The Period Place had been here before in 2020 we ran a campaign where we were able to get 1,407 Period Relief Packs into the community. However, the Delta Variant of Covid-19 was a whole other ball game.
With no time to prepare, lockdown procedures in place and the community reaching our for help - we had one goal:
Get as many period products into the community as possible.
THE EXPERIENCE.
We reached out to all of our Impact Partners, that were working as essential services to help the community in Tāmaki Makaurau and filled up their vans to take as many period products as they could.
We also reached out to community organisations that we hadn’t worked with previously to make sure all the period products we had available was sent out (they weren’t helping just sitting in storage)
THE IMPACT.
The Period Place was able to get over 300,000 period products out into the community (from the start of lockdown to the beginning of the Traffic Light system).
